These three contests are the major auctioneer events in the United States. When an auctioneer wins all three they are said to have won the Triple Crown of Auctioneering, which is a reference to winning the three top races in horse racing. It is not necessary to win all three in the same year for this distinction, and has only been achieved two times. The auctioneers who have reached this amazing professional milestone include: Jeff Stokes - 1987 WLAC, 1993 WAAC, 2003 IAC & Andy White - 2013 IAC, 2016 WLAC, 2017 WAAC. It is worth noting that only six auctioneers have been able to win two of the three in their career.
IAC - International Auctioneer Championship
The International Auctioneer Championship (IAC) was established in 1988. The first IAC Champion was Paul Behr, CAI, of Denver, CO, in 1988. In 1994, Marcy Goldring of Farmington, IL, was awarded the first female IAC Champion title when the men's and women's divisions were established. IAC Champions are considered to be the best of the best within the auction industry. From livestock and auto auctioneers to real estate and benefit auctioneers, all compete to be crowned the IAC Champion.
